punishment no. 15_ little landscape
acrylic paint, natural pigments, sand, cotton thread on canvas
the common foundation of all lorenzo taini’s works is ‘repetition’. in this artwork a fairly simple sequence is repeated several times. a result of a series of gestures that repeat themselves and translate themselves into lines and signs, seams and points with no other goal than that of measuring the infinity of repetition. these paintings lorenzo taini calls ‘punishments’, just to amplify the sense of fatigue they require and the energy that repetition of a simple gesture can produce. the blue pigment is a special pigment called “blue mogador”, the ancient name of the modern city of essaouira, in morocco.
